Carlos Guestrin, PhD ODSC West 2021 KeynotesCarlos Guestrin, PhD: Professor, Computer Science | Stanford University

Before becoming a Professor in the Computer Science Department at Stanford University, Carlos Guestrin’s roles included the Amazon Professor of Machine Learning at the Computer Science & Engineering Department of the University of Washington, the Finmeccanica Associate Professor at Carnegie Mellon University, and the Senior Director of Machine Learning and AI at Apple. He is also the co-founder of Turi, Inc, which developed a platform for developers and data scientists to build and deploy intelligent applications.

Lama Nachman ODSC West 2021 KeynotesLama Nachman: Intel Fellow, Director of Human & AI Systems Research Lab | Intel

Lama Nachman’s research at Intel Labs is focused on creating contextually aware experiences that understand users through sensing and sense-making, anticipate their needs, and act on their behalf. Lama has 23 years of experience in the areas of context-aware computing, multi-modal interactions, sensor networks, computer architecture, embedded systems, and wireless technologies. Lama’s previous roles include senior positions at Ubicom Inc, Weave Innovations, and Microsoft Corporation. 

Padhraic Smyth, PhD ODSC West 2021 KeynotesPadhraic Smyth, PhD: Director, Data Science Initiative, Chancellor’s Professor | UC Irvine 

During his career, Padhraic Smyth has published over 200 research papers on topics such as machine learning, pattern recognition, and applied statistics. In addition to being a Fellow of the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) and the Association for the Advancement of Artificial Intelligence (AAAI), he has co-authored two texts, Principles of Data Mining (MIT Press, 2001), and Modeling the Internet and the Web (Wiley, 2003), and has served in editorial and advisory positions for journals such as the Journal of Machine Learning Research and the Journal of the American Statistical Association.

Bruce Blaho Bruce Blaho: HP Fellow & VP Chief Technologist, Advanced Compute & Solutions | HP Personal Systems 

Currently, the focus of Bruce Blaho’s work at HP Personal Systems is on innovation and the development of new growth opportunities. During the course of his career, Bruce has championed many new innovations including DreamColor monitors (which won a technical Oscar award), HP Remote Boost (RGS) collaboration software (which won an engineering Emmy award), Linux based workstations, and many more. His current focus areas are Hybrid Edge Computing, Blockchain-based Security, Data Science, & AI.

Andrew KempAndrew Kemp: Data Science Segment Lead | Z by HP 

Andrew Kemp’s current focus at Z by HP is to establish key partnerships in the data science, AI, and machine learning space while working with colleagues to bring innovative solutions to market. He is also an experienced speaker, having given presentations at organizations such as Facebook, Google Ideas, Creative Mornings, and university Campuses.

Dom Divakaruni Dom Divakaruni: Group Product Manager, Microsoft Azure | Microsoft 

In his current role, Dom Divakaruni is responsible for services that help customers build the next generation of apps, like GitHub Copilot – powered by OpenAI’s GPT-3 and Codex models. Previously, he led Product for AWS AI services like Inferencia and Elastic Inference and initiatives like Apache MXNet. 

Peter WelinderPeter Welinder, PhD: VP, Product and Partnerships | OpenAI 

As VP of Product and Partnerships at OpenAI, Peter Welinder leads the commercialization of OpenAI’s research, including OpenAI’s GPT-3 and Codex API and the Github Copilot partnership. Previously, he founded and led applied machine learning engineering and product at Dropbox and was co-founder and CEO of Anchovi Labs (acquired by Dropbox).

Animesh Singh: IBM Distinguished Engineer, CTO, Watson Data and AI OSS Platform | IBM

During the course of his career, Animesh Singh has gained considerable experience in driving the strategy and execution of developing and growing AI projects. He is also an experienced speaker, who has spoken at conferences in the US, Canada, France, Germany, and Japan, among others. Additionally, as an inventor, he has been granted 10 patents.  

Mona Diab, PhD: Research Scientist, Founder, and Director | Facebook AI, GW NLP lab CARE4Lang 

Mona Diab has a wide range of interests that span building robust technologies for low resource scenarios with a special interest in Arabic technologies, misinformation propagation, computational socio-pragmatics, NLG evaluation metrics, and resource creation. She is committed to serving the community and has held several roles, including the Elected President of SIGLEX and SIGSemitic. Currently, she serves as the elected VP-Elect for ACL SIGDAT. 

Yaron Haviv: Co-Founder and CTO | Iguazio 

For more than 20 years, Yaron has been applying his deep technological experience in data, cloud, AI, and networking to leading startups and enterprise companies. He is the co-founder and CTO of Iguazio, where he is responsible for driving the strategy for the company’s data science platform and leading the shift towards real-time AI. He is also a seasoned speaker who presents at major industry events.

Nick Brown: Senior Data Scientist | IHS Markit

Nick Brown’s current work is in AI-based information extraction, and past projects have focused on applying data science and machine learning to pricing and purchasing optimization, competitive behavior analysis, and geographic demand seasonality.
