Democratizing Data for the Enterprise


Have you discovered how developing a project backed by AI requires securely unifying data from siloed systems and varied data sets? AI will fuel the business of tomorrow, but only if organizations allow it to spread unimpeded to the parts of the organization that can absorb it--the fundamental principle of democratizing data.

How does IT build a democracy of data for your enterprise? One that meets the needs of data scientists as well as business users, all while complying with IT’s standards and methodologies? In this talk, we will describe how everyone can collaborate on a single platform to build AI projects, including business users, data engineers, data scientists, and IT. This single platform is built with open-source software. We will show examples of how successful customers deployed an open-source AI-as-a-Service platform that satisfied many enterprise stakeholders: HCA, BMW, and Royal Bank of Canada.


Sherard Griffin is a Director at Red Hat in the AI Center of Excellence. His primary responsibility is the development of Open Data Hub, a community-driven reference architecture for building an AI-as-a-service platform on OpenShift. Sherard is also responsible for the deployment of Open Data Hub in Red Hat’s internal data center where hundreds of gigabytes of data per day is processed, stored and made available to analysts, developers and data scientists across the company. Additionally, he works with hardware and software partners to build out an ecosystem of AI technologies optimized to run on OpenShift as certified operators.
