Gesture Recognition in the Browser: Training a Computer to Understand Sign Language

Abstract: 

Ravi and Emma is a world first in using AI for audiences to interact with an online documentary using Southern Dialect Auslan.
Ravi and Emma is an interactive love story told in Southern Dialect Auslan and produced by the Australian multicultural broadcaster SBS, and artists from the Deaf community. The AI and the site was developed by the team at Silverpond using their AI platform HighLighter.

Bio: 

Lizzie has significant experience applying her research in causal inference from observational data to real world problems. Her work has centered on the medical industry, with projects also in education, psychology and social enterprise. She received her PhD in Logic, Computation, and Methodology from Carnegie Mellon University and Master of Science in Machine Learning.
