Dr. Aleksandar (Sasha) Tomic is a distinguished academic leader and economist, currently serving as the Associate Dean for Strategy, Innovation, & Technology at Boston College’s Woods College of Advancing Studies. In this role, he also holds the position of Senior Program Director of Graduate Programs in Analytics including the Master of Science in Applied Analytics and Master of Science in Applied Economics programs. Dr. Tomic's multifaceted contributions extend to the Morrissey College of Arts and Sciences and the Carroll School of Management at Boston College, where he is an Associate Professor of Practice in the Economics department and the Operations Management Department, respectively. In addition, he teaches Economics and Finance courses at Harvard University.

A trailblazer in online education, Dr. Tomic spearheads strategic initiatives at the college, showcasing his commitment to advancing education through innovative methods. His extensive experience encompasses various academic institutions and roles. Before joining Boston College, he served as an Associate Professor at Mercer University and a Professor at the Jack Welch Management Institute in Herndon, Virginia. He played a pivotal role as Principal in Econometrics with HENDYPLAN, S.A. in Luxembourg.
Dr. Tomic has demonstrated a keen ability to develop, grow, and turn around academic and research programs throughout his career. His scholarly contributions include papers published in international journals and refereed books, covering diverse topics such as the Economic and Monetary Union (EMU), the behavior of political agents, racial disparities in policing and sentencing, and the impact of college athletics on university reputation. Dr. Tomic is a prolific writer and a sought-after lecturer and commentator on economic issues, sharing his expertise at local, regional, national, and international levels.

Beyond academia, Dr. Tomic has actively participated in Eurostat-sponsored, complex, multi-year, multinational projects in economic statistics, business cycle forecasting, and macroeconometrics. His educational journey includes earning a Master of Arts and a Ph.D. in Applied Economics from Clemson University. Dr. Aleksandar Tomic's dedication to advancing education and his profound contributions to economic research and policy marks him as a distinguished figure in both academic and professional spheres.
