Abstract: "Presto is an open source distributed SQL query engine for fast analytic queries against various data sources ranging in size from gigabytes to petabytes. It can be deployed virtually anywhere from cloud to on premises.
Presto is SQL-on-Anything. Issuing ANSI SQL queries via Presto, users can query disparate data sources including Hadoop, S3, SQL Server, Cassandra, Kafka, Redshift, and many others. The data sources can even be combined in the single Presto query.
Presto is Fast. It was architected and implemented by from the ground up to be a fast SQL query engine. Its key features include interactive query performance, great query concurrency, and proven scalability.
In the last two years Presto experienced an unprecedented growth in popularity and user adoption at companies of all shapes and sizes, from fast-growing internet companies to the Fortune 500. Early adopters included Facebook, Airbnb, Dropbox, Groupon and Netflix. The acceleration of the Presto roadmap and successful proof-of-concepts led to production deployments at Twitter, Uber, LinkedIn, Slack as well as Bloomberg, Yahoo! Japan, Comcast, and FINRA."
