Abstract: 

Data scientists frequently refrain from using sophisticated machine learning approaches as they are considered too "black box". But what does it actually mean for a model to be a black box? Why should we care? And is human decision-making so transparent anyway? In this session, Data Scientists from DataRobot will show how modern techniques are able to make any model explainable, and put to bed the black box debate once and for all.

Bio: 

Kayne is the Director of Data Science in the UK&I. He has 10 years of experience in helping organisations get value from data science, working both client-side and vendor-side. In his spare time, he is an avid sports player, and is always seeking his next travel adventure…which is currently particularly challenging!
